Snoop Dogg Busted For Marijuana and Money As He Enters Norway

Marijuana allegedly put the drug-sniffing dogs on Snoop Dogg’s tail at the Oslo, Norway, airport Thursday, but what was in his wallet ultimately cost him more than that wayward weed.

Snoop, real name Calvin Broadus, was allegedly carrying about eight grams of pot as he entered the country, according to Norwegian media reports, via the Associated Press.

The bigger problem, or at least the more expensive one, came from the amount of allegedly undeclared cash Snoop was hauling with him as he embarked on a seven-stop jaunt through Europe before hitting Canada and the U.S. for shows.

The rapartisten (that’s Norwegian for “rap artist” — are you impressed?) was fined about $8,600 for the violations, AP said, with only a small fraction of that the drug fine. He was only briefly detained and was let go after paying up, but still showed up five hours late to the event he was headlining.

Snoop snapped at a local reporter who mentioned his tardiness, then gave a creative explanation after the airport incident was brought up.

“I was late ’cause I went to go get some chicken wings … ’cause I wanted to see Norway up close and personal, and visit an old folks’ home,” he said, according to E! News. “I went to visit a convalescent home. That’s why I was late.”

It’s a good thing Snoop flew into Norway, where possession of up to 15 grams of weed is punishable only by a fine, and not jail time. Alas, the tour isn’t swinging through Amsterdam this summer.

When asked by Larry King in 2010 whether he could perform if he were a little bit high, Mr. Broadus famously quipped: “How about I’ve never performed without it?”

See you back in L.A. in August, Snoop.
