New Purple Power

New Purple Power

In the late 1980s, the famous import purple strains were very popular to smoke but would not grow as well in the northern European regions. New Purple Power (NPP) was developed so the qualities of the yummy purple strains could be cultivated successfully in cold and wet climates.

Like all outdoor strains, New Purple Power appreciates lots of sun and warmth, but thrives even in the less reliable Dutch weather. The appearance is classic sativa, with long stems that are purple from the very start. The leaves have numerous thin fingers, and budding sites are plentiful.

A good producer, NPP’s buds are darker purple if finished in a coller environment. This plant can reach heights of over 6 feet (2 meters) in greenhouses and southern climates – in temperate climates New Purple Power averages around 5 feet (1.5 meters).

New purple power has a mild but distinct sweet and sour smell, like a sour candy. The taste is tropical, and sweeter than the smell. NPP smokes mild and has little expansion. The buzz is clear and upbeat. many heads like to toke NPP during the day, since the high leaves them happily buzzed, but still awake and functional. Winner, High Times Cannabis Cup 1998.
